Useful Phrases
To Whom It May Concern – use this if you are not sure the exact person you wish to speak to about this issue
I am writing in regards to… – a phrase that gets quickly to the point, but is still polite. Use it when trying to keep the email short.
…for which I wish to be considered – a good phrase to use when applying for a job
Please find attached… – very important email language: simply, it means I have attached something and I want you to look at it
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask – a polite way to say ‘if you don’t understand, or want to know more, just ask me’
Thanks in advance – if your email is asking the reader to do something, thank them beforehand (it also reminds the reader you want them to do something).
I look forward to your reply – this is both polite, and a good way to ‘remind’ the reader he/she is meant to write back to you
