IELTS Speaking – Part 2

In Part 2, the student is given a card with a topic, including some questions. The topic is generally about something the student will have met in life. The student has 1 minute to prepare and then must talk for 1-2 minutes on the topic, including answering the questions.

Sample Questions

Advice


Talk about a time you received good advice. You should say:
– what the advice was
– who gave you the advice
– why this person gave you the advice
– how the advice changed your life.
News


Talk about a piece of news you found interesting. You should say:
– what the news was
– when this news happened
– where you heard this news
– why you thought it interesting.
Angry


Talk about a time you were angry. You should say:
– what made you angry
– when this happened
– what you did when you were angry
– how you calmed down.
Outside activity


Talk about an outside activity you enjoy. You should say:
– what the activity is
– where you do this activity
– how often you do this activity
– why you enjoy it.
Animal


Describe an animal that you like. You should say:
– what the animal is
– what you know about this animal
– when you first saw this animal
– why you like it.
Outside place


Describe a place outside that you frequently visit. You should say:
– where the place is
– how often you go there
– what people can do there
– why you like to visit this place.
App


Talk about an app that you find useful. You should say:
– what the app does
– when you first used this app
– why it is useful
– what you did before you had this app.
Person you admire


Describe a person you admire. You should say:
– who the person is
– how long you have known this person
– what type of personality this person has
– why you admire this person.

Talk about your personality. You should say:
